                            About Alpha Phi

Alpha Phi is one of the most prominent sororities on campus, comprised of a membership that adheres to the values of sisterhood, scholarship, service, leadership, loyalty, and character development. Allowing its members to develop life-long friendships based on mutual support, Alpha Phis enjoy the benefits of a sincere sisterhood through college and in every stage of their lives. Through leadership positions and the international network of sisters, the members of Alpha Phi are able to attain quality leadership skills that will serve them for a lifetime. Alpha Phi is also proud of the high degree of involvement that members show on campus, with sisters involved in Colonial Cabinet, club/varsity sports, community service groups, honors organizations, and the Student Association. Extending beyond campus, Alpha Phis hold internships throughout DC in a variety of government offices, private firms, and non-profits, and many of these positions are passed down to another Alpha Phi.

One of the unique aspects of Alpha Phi is that all chapters are bound by a common philanthropic cause; the Alpha Phi Foundation is one of the oldest Greek foundations and works to build awareness and raise funds in support of women’s heart health. GW Alpha Phi raised over $15,000 last year for its national philanthropy. The third annual Red Dress Gala, the PhiBall Dodgeball Tournament, and Heart Week are three of Alpha Phi’s main campus events for benefiting the Alpha Phi Foundation. In addition to renowned philanthropic events, Alpha Phi hosts many social events during the school year including crush parties, fraternity mixers, winter semi-formal, spring formal and of course, a party to celebrate the newest members of Alpha Phi shortly after Bid Day. During the new member period, the new class of women will get their first glimpse of how special and truly connected the sisters of Alpha Phi are here at GW. In their collegiate years, Alpha Phis become members for a lifetime and learn the value of being true to Alpha Phi’s ideals. Members continue to be devoted, connected sisters throughout college and beyond.
