                            Scholarship

While philanthropy and social events are exciting parts of life as an Alpha Phi, we also place a strong emphasis on academic success.  We recognize that it is important to become well rounded women who are prepared for the future, and our scholarship programs help sisters in Alpha Phi successfully meet those goals.  Our Director of Scholarship is a wonderful asset to our chapter who leads weekly study hours, finals week study breaks, rewards for improved performance, and maintains our test files.  She also helps our sisters locate financial aid such as scholarships, grants, and loans.

Striving towards lofty academic goals is the norm for the women of Alpha Phi, as is displayed by countless achievements in the classroom.  Alpha Phis frequently double major, excel in classes, and go on to graduate school, thanks to the countless academic resources that Alpha Phi is able to provide sisters.  Alumnae in the DC area love to help our sisters find internships and job opportunities, and whether it’s Capitol Hill or CNN, sisters have connections all over the city to help with future career endeavors.  Alpha Phi provides each member with everything she needs for success: leadership skills, academic resources, and of course, sisters for support!

Study Tip from our Director of Scholarship

To plan an effective study timetable, schedule activities that are constant first (classes, labs, meals, sleep) then add discretionary activities. Assign a specific subject or assignment to each hour of your designated study time and make sure to tackle difficult subjects when you are most alert. Also remember that variety enhances efficiency, so after an hour to an hour and a half on one subject change to a different assignment.
